Basmati rice is typical in the northern part of India. It is famous all over the world because of its flavor and texture. In South India, basmati rice is also used to make biriyani, fried rice, and many other dishes made for special occasions. Basmati rice is rich in carbohydrates which is essential for exercising muscles.

Ingredients
1 cup of uncooked plain basmati rice
2 cup boiled water
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon butter
1/2 of a lemon juiced
Cooking Direction
1. Soak the rice at least 30 minutes in 2-3 cups of water to remove the starchy white powder from the grains. Pour out the soaking water through your hands without letting the rice fallout. Wash the rice few times until the water runs clear. Leave it in a strainer for at least 15 minutes.
2. Boil water
3. Add salt, butter, lemon
4. Add rice and cook over medium heat until the water starts to boil again.
5. Reduce the flame to low or just above the simmer. Cook for 15 minutes.
6. After 15 minutes, turn off the stove. Let the rice sit for 5 more minutes with the lid on.
7. Lift up the lid, fluff it with a fork, and serve plain basmati rice with your favorite curry.
