Avocado Chutney or Avocado Chammanthi is a healthy and delicious side dish for rice. It is my mom’s creation. One day I bought some avocado at home, planning to make some guacamole. As I got busy with work and school, avocados just sat in the fridge, ready to be spoiled. Since my mom knew I wouldn’t do anything with it, she made a chammanthi. It was so delicious that we couldn’t even recognize that it was avocado chammanthi. We thought it was mango chammanthi. That was the first time we used avocados at our home.
Avocado is not native to South India. It is native to North and South America. Avocado is a nutrient-dense fruit with about 20 vitamins and minerals, including vitamins C, E, and K. It provides the unsaturated fat needed for heart health. It helps to prevent many other health issues. Avocado chammanthi is an intelligent way to incorporate avocado into the South Indian diet.
