In Kerala, gooseberry in called Nellikka. In some other parts of India, it is also called Amla. Gooseberry chammandi is the right combination for some warm rice. Like many other recipes I posted here, gooseberry chammandi is also my mom’s recipe. It is another easy and simple recipe from Kerala.
Gooseberry is considered one of the healthiest foods because of its high nutrient content. It is an excellent source of vitamin A, C, antioxidants, fiber and many other nutrients and minerals. Gooseberry is very important in Ayurvedic medicine because of its healing power. It is a good idea to include gooseberry in your food choices because of its health benefits. I use frozen gooseberry for this recipe because fresh ones are not available. Try this simple recipe that can improve your health.
